Richard Purvis, 36, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, June 14 2005 at his residence. Mr. Purvis was a 1987 graduate of South Ripley High School and had been an equipment operator for the Southeastern Indiana REMC since 1987. He was a member of the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department and was currently serving as chief.  He was also a member of the Ripley County Fire Chiefs Association, Indiana Fire Chiefs Association, had been a member of Rescue 69, Task Unit I, and served as director for the Ripley County Emergency Management Agency from 1994 to 1996.
